2 Kings 6:24-33, 7:1-2

What does besiegement cause?

1. It causes you to do things you wouldn't normally do.

2. It causes you say things you wouldn't normally say.

3. It causes you to blame someone else for your problems.

4. It can cause you to loose patience and attempt to bring change yourself.

The one thing that gives us hope, faith and security is 'the word of the Lord'.

Getting the word of the Lord is not difficult. It's not meant to be difficult. If it was difficult then we would have to work to get it, and then God would be making us walk in law not grace. It's easy to get the word of the Lord.

Here is the clue

If you are firmly committed to doing the will of God YOU WILL.

In other words, if you make the choice to do the word of the Lord, you will get the word of the Lord. You don't need to strive, it will come. Just keep doing that which you are doing and let God do the rest. It's that simple.

Another clue is 'What's in your heart?' What do you really want? Psalm 37:4 "He will give you the desires of your heart." You can take that to mean that whatever you desire in God, He will do it for you. Or you can take it to mean that He places the desires in your heart.
If He places the desires in your heart, then He will bring them to pass. What we have to be careful of is placing our own interpretation on the desires. It's placing our own understanding on the 'word of the Lord'.

This is where people come unstuck. They get a prophecy, or an impression, or a desire, and then they:

1. Attempt to bring it to pass themselves.
2. They see it in only one way. Thus they limit how, when, where and who concerning the word.

Our responsibility is to walk by faith, not by Sight.

2 Kings 7:1-17

Different groups of people see things very differently.

1. The Man at the gate.
He didn't walk by faith. He limited how and when and where God could do things. Aren't you glad we don't live under the dispensation of law? We can run to God when we walk in fear and He gives us another chance.

2. Four lepers
Their's doesn't look like a walk of faith. It looks like common sense. Let me say this, most of the time faith is just doing that which looks to be the most obvious thing to do. We get painted into a corner, what do we do? Paint ourselves out of it. Sitting there and grumbling isn't faith. Getting up and doing something is.

3. The gatekeepers (verse 10-11)
These people did not doubt or try to crush something that they thought might be impossible. Rather they still did their job.
We have a responsibility in the body of Christ. That is to speak faith. How do we do that? We do what we are meant to do, what we are responsible for. If we try to take responsibility for something God hasn't given us responsibility for, we end up crushing ourselves and others.

4. The King (verse 12-13)
Wasn't sure how to act. He was still walking in fear. That fear would have robbed him of seeing the salvation of the Lord had he not listened to those around him.
Even when you walk in fear, God will give you opportunities to walk in faith through the advice, counsel and support of others. We need each other so that the enemy's plans for us don't come to pass. You are not meant to be an island unto yourself.
Important, only listen to those who are willing to serve you. Those who are not will control you.

5. The Servants (verse 13-14)
What powerful advice. Sometimes faith involves risking something. Note what they risked had some value but it would not have destroyed them. There is a lesson on stepping out in faith.

6. The people
The people will always follow faith. Faith activates people to reap the blessings.
