Matthew 25:14-30

When Jesus told stories, they always carried with them some teaching about Him or the Kingdom of God. When a story starts with "the Kingdom of Heaven is like", we need to sit up and take notice. Within the story are principles and concepts that will help us in our daily walk with God.

When Jesus talks about the "Kingdom of Heaven", get ready because you are about to learn something about the mindset or perception of kingdom minded people.

Kingdom minded people have:

1. Proper perception or mindset about the Master.

Two of them realised what he was like. He gives for us to use and grow.

One had a mindset of harshness, cruelty, hard man, taking what is perceived to not be his.

I want you to understand something.
"You get what you think about God"

Recently I taught about "repentance being to change your thinking". Here is a classic case of the need to change your thinking. What you think about God is what He will be to you. What you think about something is what it will be to you. This is why God wants us to change our thinking about Him and life.

2. Proper perception or mindset of the church.

Two of them were committed to increasing the master's dominion. The third one wasn't interested in the master's dominion because his mindset about God needed repentance. He needed to change his thinking about God and his dominion.

What is God's mindset concerning the church?

It's His only vision. Matthew 16:17-18 Jesus said, "I will build my church"

Building takes commitment, love, giving, sowing, and paying a price now. Too often the church is so inward minded looking for the faults within that it forgets the vision that God has of the Church.

We are meant to be a glorious church without spot or wrinkle. We can't do this ourselves. We don't have the ability to change ourselves into what God desires we should be. That is why he sent His son into the world so that we would have the ability to be what he sees us to be.

We are told to give two things:

- Alms - this recognises need.
- Honour - this recognises value.

Kingdom minded people see value, not the spending of money. Yes, we need to meet the needs of the poor within our community, but it is not just the needs of the financially poor but also the spiritually poor.

Kingdom minded people see the opportunity because they learn to recognize value, not just need.

Some people say, "I don't give to the building fund rise and build, I just give to the poor." These people have only half the picture. Kingdom minded people live out of the revelation of value.

3. Proper perception or mindset of the gift.

Two of the servants allow the gift the master gave to change their lives.
The third one wouldn't let the gift change their life.

We live in a culture that says I will give this because that is what they gave me. Many people live in a slightly different culture that says, "I live in a culture of generosity."

One common problem that exists today is the spirit that says "That has never happened to me." These people are constantly robbed of the joy of someone else being blessed.

Some others have a different yet equally as damaging spirit that says "Why did you do that?" When they get given something, they automatically think "What do they want from me?"

Kingdom minded people have a revelation of gifts and giving.

They don't have a suspicious spirit because they are church builders, not ministry builders.

Today let's be kingdom minded, not people minded. Let's live our lives with a sense of opportunity, not of loss.
